Médine Tidou is a French-Ivorian photographer based in Berlin.
Specialized in street, documentary and conceptual photography, the subject matter of Médine’s photographs oscillates between questions of non-binary or gender identity, sexual, cultural and social inequities reshaped as figures of empowerment.
Médine’s sleek photographic style often silently questions the viewer’s understanding of the image they are looking at. “In my black and white photography, I explore the everyday life narrative with a candid eye, always looking for a double meaning, a juxtaposition of situations or what some simply call... a moment. “
Since 2021, the photographer’s involvement in the art scene has expanded to a different level as she’s currently opening a space dedicated to photography with a photo studio and a gallery in Berlin Neukölln. After a series of successful exhibitions in France and Germany, in places such as Callie’s Art Institution and Galerie im Saalbau in Berlin, Médine won in 2022 the 3rd Award of the Berlin Neuköllner Art Prize 2022.
In July 2022, Médine exhibited her documentary photography works with the series “Funfairs are not for kids” at the European Parliament in London, represented by the 12 Star Gallery as part of the group exhibition “ No one is left behind”. Simultaneously her series “Fallen Figures'' was shown in a solo show at the Berlin cultural center Oyoun.
